The coolest show in the world....

Just thought I'd fill you in on a big secret..... Well it's not a secret anymore, but the new Stitches and Craft Show is bigger and better than ever. In years past it's been all about the quilt making, knitting, crocheting granny.

Sorry if that offends anyone but hopefully you understand where I'm going...

The show has now been taken over by Living Creatively and they have transformed it into something totally awesome. Craft is cool again... YAY !!

There's plenty to see and lots for you to do. There's the Learning Centre where you can get tips and advice from experts within the craft and design industries; Craft Bars where you can order from the menu and make something of your own - with helpers if you need them; Children's Craft Centre etc etc.

They'll also have a fantastic area called the "Reconstruction Zone" where you can pick an item of clothing and upcycle it into something wonderful for you to take home!! How great is that.

And don't forget the Incubator - that's where Little Diva will be, along with lots of other fabulous independant crafters, designers, screenprinters etc.

So, keep the dates free: 29th April until 3rd May and come for one day or come for all five. You might need the whole five days just to see everything !!

I think I might have to get someone to look after my stall for a day so I don't miss out on all the action...

P.S. The list of show retailers will be out soon..

Little Diva dress in Photo Shoot.....

Here's a sneak peak of one of my dresses that was used for a photo shoot for the fabulous Flirty Bird recently:

It's the Diva Dress style and the fabric is Alexander Henry's Yui Kokeshi in Pink - one of my favourites.

I have one for sale at the moment in my Etsy Store so Click here to check it out. You can also click here to go to Flirty Bird's blog to see a couple more gorgeous photo's from the photo shoot.

Birthday Parties coming up....

I haven't been doing much sewing or S & C show preparations this week as my little boy turns two this Sunday. The twins have asked me every morning this week if it's Harry's birthday yet !! As usual I don't really feel like I'm getting anywhere but I did get the party bags ready to go:

Lots to do tomorrow and tomorrow night to get everything ready. At least I've done most of the party food shopping already.

Then on Tuesday we have a birthday party down the coast for a little girl who is also turning two. I didn't know what to get her so I decided to make her this little play cooking apron with matching oven mitts. I just love this Mod Birds fabric and have been waiting to use it for something.

I made it reversible so the back has these funky circles.

I'm going to try to get a little kiddies cooking set to go with it - I guess I'll be going to the shops on Monday. Our only day of the week we "usually" get to stay at home.

Are you sick of the kids getting too much chocolate for Easter ??

What about giving them an Easter Bunny DIY Kit ?? I've made up some cute little packs of DIY Easter Bunnies to keep them occupied.

One I prepared earlier:

Here's what you receive in the pack:

* Easter Bunny pieces made from assorted quality craft paper/card - body, head, arms and legs (with pre-cut holes to attach)

* Jewels, sequence and bow for decoration

* Studs to attach bunny's movable limbs

* Pink cord to hang your finished masterpiece (approx 30cm finished)

All the bits and pieces come in a zip lock bag with instructions and picture of a finished Easter Bunny. By the way, I've left the face blank so the kiddies can draw their own bunny face.

Here's a couple that my daughters' did yesterday. They loved it...

So click here to purchase from my Markets Online store (AUD) or contact me directly. Edit: They are now also listed in my Etsy store so click here to go straight to the listing.

Oh, did I mention the FREE POSTAGE within Australia....

I'm so lucky....

I had the pleasure of spending a few hours yesterday with some of the fabulous ladies from BrisStyle. We had a lunch catchup to coincide with the 1st BrisStyle Anniversary - it started off with half a dozen like-minded crafty types and there are now 60 members !! Catherine from Made by Maisie organised a craft swap so we all set about making/creating a gift to do as a lucky dip swap.

I wrapped mine up in a fat quarter of fabric and tied some ricrac around it for some extra value and I can now reveal what I made.

This funky Citrus tea towel apron:

and also this double sided pin cushion:

Jade from Beckybean received my gifts and I hope she likes them. She'll definitely be able to put the pin cushion to good use making all of those fantastic handbags with her sister Bec. Check out their amazing creations for yourself.

Now onto the wonderful gift I received. Tracy from Hey Harriett put together this fantastic package:

How cute is that little Peace magnet and I just love the mini painted bird canvas - I think my daughters have claimed that one already !!

Below is a set of fantastic TTv photos. I was actually having a look at them just last week so it's pretty cool that I now have some of my own - if you want to see more visit Hey Harriett's Etsy shop. Now I just need to find a way to display them...

By the way, if you are wondering what TTv is (I had to look it up myself when I first heard it) it stands for Through the Viewfinder and the photos are taken through the viewfinder of one camera, with another camera.

Anyway, thanks to all the BrisStylettes for a fabulous day yesterday. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet/chat to everyone.

Giveaways

Want to win these gorgeous hair clippies ??

Head on over to Kitty Boo Boo and all you have to do is leave a comment before 29th March to win.

Also, don't forget about the BrisStyle Giveaway. You just need to leave a comment on the post before 25th March.

GOOD LUCK !!

Stitches and Craft Update

Well here's the latest update on my progress for the Brisbane Stitches and Craft Show... ummm I've been making dresses for orders:

making things for the craft swap at the BrisStyle catchup this weekend (can only give a sneak peak of this at the moment - full photos later):

making a few magnetic bookmarks:

and trying to brainstorm some fantastic ideas for my stall at the show...

So, I guess I haven't done any one thing in particular for the show at all. I've nearly sold out of my Imbi Family softies so I'll have to get some more of those going too. Here's my list of what I need to do:

+ Make a fabulous sign for my stall
+ Make lots more stock so I actually have something to show !!
+ Think of something amazing and new to have at the stall
+ Work out my stall set-up

and lots more little bits and pieces..

So as you can see I haven't really gotten very far at all. I've got nearly six weeks to get organised but not doubt I'll be running around like a mad woman at the last minute.

The cutest notecards ever....

I was just up at Carindale Shopping Centre looking for some birthday party invitations for my son's upcoming 2nd Birthday (whoa.... where did those two years go !! ) when I saw, and just HAD to buy, these divine note cards...

Aren't they just the cutest ever !! I wish they'd bring out a fabric range in the same pattern !!

It is a set of 16 little notecards with envelopes and comes in this gorgeous little tin. I thought it would be such a great little gift to give someone that I just had to buy it. Although it's pretty unlikely that someone else will actually receive it as I just don't think I can part with it...

P.S. sorry the photos are that great but I just couldn't seem to get a very good light.

Stitches and Craft Show

One piece of my exciting news:

I was contacted by Living Creatively who are the new owners of the Stitches and Craft show) towards the end of last year and they invited me to take part in the new “Incubator” section of the show. Basically, in their own words “the Incubator champions cool crafts and design talent by showcasing the best of Australian contempory craft and design from emerging and established independent crafters and designers”.

Needless to say, I said yes. So I’m in the process or sorting out all the details, working out how much space there will be, creating signs etc. I’ll also be doing a weekly post on my blog to show how the preparations are coming along.

I’ll just be showcasing at the Brisbane show which will be held
29 April – 3 May. Click here for the Stitches and Craft website.

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a fantastic giveaway from Jenean Morrison who is the designer of the beautiful "Moondance" fabric range for Free Spirit Fabric.

I won a stack of fat quarters - each a different one from the Moondance range. Yay for me !! Now, what to make ..??
